Under the Empowering Family Health Project, a set of Food Processing and Preservation Equipment (see list below) was gifted to the following five communities: Barlow Creek, Bouchie Lake, Kersley, Ten Mile Lake / Parkland, and Wells. This equipment is owned by each community and is available to residents to use at no charge. Each community is establishing a set of policies under which the equipment can be loaned out or borrowed.

The only conditions that were stipulated by the Partners for Healthier Communities: North Cariboo is as follows:
- The equipment is to be owned by the “community”;
- The equipment must be housed in a central location where all members of the community can access it with few to no restrictions and /or barriers;
- If the equipment is housed in a publicly owned community hall / centre, membership in the local community association shall not be a requirement to access and use the equipment;
- The equipment is to remain within the geographic area identified by the community as the “Community”;
- If access to the equipment is set up based upon a “Lending Library System” it is recommended that the “community” adopt a policy for loaning out the equipment, tracking the equipment and the conditions under which the equipment is used and returned (e.g. time frame, security deposit, damage deposit, etc.)
- No fee is to be charged to use the equipment other than charging a refundable damage deposit and security deposit. The community can recommend a donation so that a fund is created which can be used to purchase additional equipment and /or replacement items.
- Any lost or damaged equipment shall be the responsibility of the borrowers.
